JACK tells the inspirational story of the late New Democratic Party Leader, Jack Layton (played by Rick Roberts). The biopic captures the life and times of the late politician, whose historic election campaign while battling cancer captured the attention of the nation.
The film delves into the captivating love story between Layton and Chow (played by Sook-Yin Lee) and offers viewers a look inside the public and personal life of the famed politician. It follows the couple through their shared life in Toronto municipal politics from 1980–1990, onto the national stage in the 2000’s, and up to the last federal election campaign in 2011, compounded by his tragic passing only weeks later from cancer.
